# Palau Digital Residency ID Overview

> Understand the Palau ID application, available card and digital features, optional third-party services, and conditional or legacy programs.

## What is the Palau Digital Residency ID?

The Palau Digital Residency ID is issued through the Republic of Palau Digital Residency Program. RNS.ID provides the online experience for purchasing an available term, completing identity verification, submitting the application, and managing the resulting ID and physical card.

## What the Palau ID includes

Product features and optional programs have different eligibility and approval requirements. Purchasing a Palau ID does not automatically activate every related service.

| **Core product** | Apply for a Palau Digital Residency ID and, if approved, hold it for the approved term. Payment does not guarantee approval. |
| **Available identity features** | A physical card after required approval and verification, an eligible [PDF download](/palau-id/download-digital-copy), and related [Legal DID actions](/legal-did/overview) where available. Downloading a copy does not establish permission for a verification use or guarantee acceptance. |
| **Optional third-party service** | [Palau Mailing](/palau-mailing/overview), operated by Pacific Mail Hub, with separate eligibility, fees, onboarding, and provider terms. It is not proof of residence. |
| **Conditional or legacy programs** | [RNS Points](/rewards/rns-points), [coupons](/rewards/rns-points/coupons-and-codes), [Affiliate participation](/rewards/affiliate-program), [Expedited Service](/palau-id/expedited-service), and eligible [Voyager Pass redemptions](/rewards/voyager-pass), each subject to its own availability and conditions. |
| **Not a promised outcome** | Guaranteed approval, access to a bank or exchange, universal third-party acceptance, or delivery of a future roadmap service. |

Voyager Pass is a legacy NFT, not a currently sold RNS.ID product. Eligible existing holders must request its supported one-year Palau ID benefit through RNS.ID Support; the benefit is not currently self-service and does not bypass application review.

  Palau Digital Residency is not the same as citizenship, a passport, or physical residency in Palau. Whether any organization accepts an identity document is determined by that organization and its rules.

## Physical card designs

The physical card has different design revisions. An otherwise valid **Rev. 2023-B** card remains usable after the introduction of **Rev. 2026-A**. See [Card designs](/palau-id/card-designs) to identify a revision and compare front and back samples.

## The application journey

1. Choose an available Palau ID term and complete checkout.
2. Enter the required personal and shipping information.
3. Complete document and facial identity verification.
4. Respond to any requested corrections.
5. Wait for internal screening and government review.
6. If required, complete video verification.
7. Follow card production and shipping until delivery.

## Palau ID and Legal DID

A Palau ID is a government-issued identity product. A Legal DID is a wallet-controlled on-chain identity asset connected to verified claims. They are related but are not interchangeable. See [Palau ID vs. Legal DID](/legal-did/palau-id-vs-legal-did).
