Upload a recent portrait of yourself for the Palau ID card. This is separate from the identity-document images and live facial check.

File requirements

  • Formats: JPG, JPEG, or PNG.
  • Maximum file size: 15 MB.
  • Dimensions: the source image does not need to be square, but its width and height must each be at least 600 pixels.
  • Orientation: use a vertical, upright portrait.
For a non-square source image, use the available crop tool to create the square portrait preview. Make sure the crop remains at least 600 × 600 pixels and review it before submitting. Meeting the dimensions does not guarantee photo approval.

Pose and framing

  • Face the camera and look straight ahead.
  • Keep your body upright rather than leaning or turning sideways.
  • Center your face and keep the whole face visible.
  • Keep a natural expression; do not pose.
  • Leave enough space around the head for cropping.

Clothing, face, and background

  • Remove glasses and hats.
  • Avoid anything that blocks or shadows the face.
  • Use a plain white or off-white background.
  • Make sure no other people or unrelated objects appear behind you.

Image quality

Use an original color photo taken within the last six months, with even lighting and accurate color. Do not use filters, beauty effects, background replacement, or other digital editing. Avoid blur, heavy compression, screenshots, reflections, or a photo of another photo.
Passing the file uploader does not guarantee that the portrait is suitable for card production. Review the preview carefully before submitting.

Common upload problems

The file is rejected immediately: confirm the format, file size, and dimensions. Re-export the image as JPG or PNG if its filename extension does not match its actual format. The crop tool does not open: update the browser, allow the site to open the file picker, or try another current browser. The image looks soft after cropping: return to the original higher-resolution file and crop less aggressively. After replacing a requested photo, return to Application status and corrections and confirm that the correction was submitted.
