Identity verification confirms that an accepted government-issued document belongs to you. It is part of the KYC/AML and application review process.

Prepare

  • Use a supported phone or computer with a working camera.
  • Use the original identity document, not a photocopy, screenshot, or scanned printout.
  • Make sure the document is valid, undamaged, and fully readable.
  • Choose a well-lit location with a stable internet connection.
  • Remove hats, tinted glasses, or other items that cover your face.

Complete the document check

  1. Open the application and continue to identity verification.
  2. Select the issuing country or region and the document type offered by the verification interface.
  3. Photograph or upload the requested document side or passport page.
  4. Keep all edges inside the frame and avoid glare, blur, shadows, and cropped text.
  5. Follow any request for an additional side or image.

Complete the live facial check

Face the camera directly and keep your full face in the frame. Follow the on-screen movement instructions slowly. The check compares the live capture with the identity document.
Do not let another person complete the facial check and do not digitally alter the document or selfie. These actions can cause rejection or additional review.

After verification

The verification result may be accepted immediately, remain pending, request another attempt, or require additional review. Completing the verification interface does not mean that the overall Palau ID application is approved. Return to the application and check its current state. Internal screening and government review follow the status logic described in Application status and corrections.

If verification fails

Use the retry action only when it is available. Before retrying, improve lighting, clean the camera lens, confirm that the selected document type is correct, and use the original document. If submission is locked or no retry is offered, contact support with the application identifier and the exact error text—never send a password or wallet recovery phrase.
